Smithsonian Intimate Guide to Human Origins by Carl Zimmer

Carl Zimmer is a science writer and wrote one of my favorite books titled "Evolution: The Triumph of an Idea". Zimmer has a way of talking about these subjects in a very clear and concise voice. This is a very interesting look at our origins as human beings and how we came to be who we are today.

The Moon of Letting Go by Richard Van Camp

This is a collection of short stories by Richard Van Camp, who is turning out to be an excellent addition to my literary explorations. His stories are examples of love, humor and tragedy and he tells them with such humanity that you can't help but relate to these characters. Their tragedies are your tragedies, their successes become your successes. These stories will sit with you.

The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis

I had thought that this book was going to be too preachy and gody for me but I was surprised to find myself enjoying this read. Lewis looks at how human beings behave and see the world from a different perspective, thus determining one's place in it. The fantastical setting is pretty interesting too.

For Love of Insects by Thomas Eisner

Thomas Eisner is an entomologist and this novel is the story of him as a scientist and the insects he has studied over the years. Part autobiography and entirely biology, this is a fascinating look at science, discovery and insects! This is such an interesting book and it gives an incredible glimpse into a whole other world at work right under your nose.

The Complete Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

When I was a kid I had a copy of the The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe but never read any of the other books. So, for the christmas break, I decided to tackle the chronicles from start to finish. It was a good easy read for the holidays.

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway

I just got back from Cuba yesterday and of course I had to bring along one of my very favorite books to read while I was there! This is the perfect edition to a beautiful Cuban beach.
